WORSHIP - JANUARY 29, 2012
Theme: “I Hope You’ll Dance"
Have you ever passed up an opportunity that God placed in your path? Of course you have. We all have. And often, afterwards, filled with regret, we think “If only I had…” It doesn’t have to be that way. God calls us to live life fully... and Courageously. He challenges us to “Discern and pursue what matters most.” D&C 163:11b. This Sunday my sermon is about dancing. Interesting topic for an airline pilot with no sense of rhythm… who’s afraid to dance! In actuality, my sermon is about Courage. In our Courageous text we read, “While most men and women will die with deep regrets, others will RESOLVE to live for what matters most.” I WANT TO BE A MAN WHO LIVES FOR WHAT MATTERS MOST! Please come and worship with us this Sunday.
I pray that you won’t sit this one out. I Hope You’ll Dance.
Your brother in Christ,
Kel Weller

Resolution Ceremony… THIS SUNDAY, January 29
Invite Your Friends… Invite them to come and worship. Invite them to come and witness the consecration of more than twenty lives. Yes, TWENTY!!! That’s how many persons have COURAGEOUSLY RESOLVED to publicly dedicate their lives to God. They have each signed a RESOLUTION CERTIFICATE. Their resolve is not a promise of future perfection. It is a declaration of their desire and commitment to pursue faithfulness by the grace of God. YOU will be offered an opportunity during our RESOLUTION CEREMONY to stand in place as a statement of YOUR resolve. It can have a major impact on you, your marriage, and your children and grandchildren. Prayerfully consider God’s call.
ATLANTA HOMELESS MISSION LAST SUNDAY
The Community of Christ responded to the call and served at the Atlanta Union Mission this past Sunday. A total of 18 volunteers (men, women, youth and a clown) put their time and hearts into preparing, serving and cleaning-up dinner for the precious women and children at the Mission. You are welcome to join us next time; we are hoping to have 3 more days at the Mission in 2012!
Julie Graybill
Note from Pastor Nancy: As I listened to the heart-wrenching stories of a few homeless women this past Sunday, I realized how important it is for our congregation to STEP OUT FROM OUR SAFE CHURCH environment and serve the bruised and broken-hearted. . . . those Christ would be serving today. Atlanta North is needed desperately at Atlanta Union Mission! We can easily and joyfully answer this call. While serving food and drinks to the waiting mothers and children the servers kept running out of glasses!. Providing 100 brand new glasses is something we can and will provide! If you'd like to help pay for this small gift, drop in a little extra cash this Sunday. All undesignated offerings this Sunday will pay that bill! Thank you, dear Congregation! Thank you, Julie, Nathan, and Faith, for leading the way.
WEEKLY PRAYER GROUP BEGINS ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND AT ATLANTA NORTH
Associate Pastor, Cindy Ford, will begin a Prayer Group that will meet at the church every Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. beginning February 2nd. We will meet in the “upper room” at the top of the stairs. We welcome any who can join us and if you cannot physically be present with us, we invite you to set aside some time on Thursday nights in your own homes to pray together as a family or get together with another family nearby. Prayer should be the foundation for everything that we do and it is the most important thing we can do in our walk as disciples. . . Jesus set the example for us. Please pray for our congregation and its leaders, our communities, our children and families, our government leaders, our country. . . . there is no end to what we can pray for. I would also invite you to consider fasting on Wednesdays to further strengthen our prayers. Let us unite as two or three gathered together in Jesus’ Name!
FEBRUARY 18, 19, 2012 PREACHING WORKSHOP IN GREENVILLE, SC
President of Seventy, Karin Peter, will be presenting a Preaching Workshop to be held in Greenville on February 18-19, 2012. She has had great success with the workshop in other areas; particularly with young adults. This workshop is open to everyone; whether priesthood or not. Our intention is to keep the costs for participants at a minimum. There is no charge for the workshop itself. The plan is to provide a continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, and lunch on Saturday. Participants will be responsible for their evening meal on Saturday. Several local members from the Greenville Congregation have opened their homes for housing workshop participants. This is limited, so it is important that those desiring this type of housing make their request known as early as possible. As a Mission Center, we have used the Best Western in Greenville for housing participants in our LEADS program. The contact information for this hotel is provided on the flyer as a suggestion. Hotel cost will be the responsibility of each participant who chooses this type of housing. Please announce this workshop in your congregation and encourage participation. If the desire is for leadership development with some young adults in your congregation, this workshop is for them! Click HERE for the registration form.
