FIRST PRIESTHOOD GATHERING IN 2012 - THIS SUNDAY MORNING - 8:30AM

WORSHIP AND COMMUNION SERVICE
Theme: “STEPPING OUT IN FAITH"

One of the 2012 Mission Objectives for Atlanta North is to focus on “Being the Hands and Feet of Jesus” and to do that, we need to pray and seek out ways in which we can accomplish that in our various communities. At work one day, I was discussing this with a fellow employee who is a Christian and very active in her church. She began to tell me how their Pastor felt led to minister in some way to the homeless. The leaders of the congregation prayed about it and soon, doors began to open in ways they never expected. Close to where they meet for worship, a couple of houses were going to be torn down and they were able to negotiate with the owners to let them renovate them into homes for people who had no place to live. Their story of “stepping out in faith” is one that everyone needs to hear----not so that we can duplicate what God has called them to do, but so that we can be assured that whatever outreach or community project we might feel called to, we need not be afraid of failing because God will go before us and provide whatever we need to accomplish what he has called us to do. The NewSong Community Church in Cumming has now opened two homes, “The House of Faith” and “The House of Hope” and are preparing to open a 3rd one in the near future. Only they can share firsthand how this small congregation that is renting space in a commercial building were able to accomplish this task. You won’t want to miss hearing David Allen and Karen Rivera share God’s miraculous provision in this testimony. Come prepared to be inspired and uplifted and also to share in the Lord’s Supper and renew your covenant with Him. You’ll be glad that you came!

COURAGEOUS CLASSES END WITH A POWERFUL SERMON/WORSHIP SERVICE
If you were privileged to attend the worship service this past Sunday you know how God used Kel's sermon to touch hearts. THANK YOU, Lord! I would encourage each of you to pray for opportunities to share the Courageous movie DVD and the book, Resolution. Two of our ladies (Marcia and Crystal) are sharing the Resolution for Women in their neighborhoods. This is an example of giving ministry beyond our congregational walls. The guest speakers this Sunday will give us more ideas on how we can become the hands and feet of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

WEEKLY PRAYER GROUP BEGINS ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND AT ATLANTA NORTH
Associate Pastor, Cindy Ford, will begin a Prayer Group that will meet at the church every Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. beginning February 2nd. We will meet in the “upper room” at the top of the stairs. We welcome any who can join us and if you cannot physically be present with us, we invite you to set aside some time on Thursday nights in your own homes to pray together as a family or get together with another family nearby. Prayer should be the foundation for everything that we do and it is the most important thing we can do in our walk as disciples. . . Jesus set the example for us. Please pray for our congregation and its leaders, our communities, our children and families, our government leaders, our country. . . . there is no end to what we can pray for. I would also invite you to consider fasting on Wednesdays to further strengthen our prayers. Let us unite as two or three gathered together in Jesus’ Name!

FEBRUARY 18, 19, 2012 PREACHING/PUBLIC SPEAKING WORKSHOP IN GREENVILLE, SC
President of Seventy, Karin Peter, will be presenting a Preaching Workshop to be held in Greenville on February 18-19, 2012. She has had great success with the workshop in other areas; particularly with young adults. This workshop is open to everyone; whether priesthood or not. Our intention is to keep the costs for participants at a minimum. There is no charge for the workshop itself. The plan is to provide a continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, and lunch on Saturday. Participants will be responsible for their evening meal on Saturday. Several local members from the Greenville Congregation have opened their homes for housing workshop participants. This is limited, so it is important that those desiring this type of housing make their request known as early as possible. As a Mission Center, we have used the Best Western in Greenville for housing participants in our LEADS program. The contact information for this hotel is provided on the flyer as a suggestion. Hotel cost will be the responsibility of each participant who chooses this type of housing. Please announce this workshop in your congregation and encourage participation. If the desire is for leadership development with some young adults in your congregation, this workshop is for them! Click HERE for the registration form.
In Christ,
Craig Lenfestey

Note from Pastor Nancy: I encourage as many people to attend this workshop as possible. Since some of us can only attend on Saturday, it would be wise to carpool. Give Nancy a call if you can drive or will need a ride.

ADULT CLASS
We are kicking off a new Sunday School class this Sunday, February 5th, in the Fellowship Hall at 10 AM. The facilitators will be Brenda Lenfestey and Tass Welch.
Please join us!!

This Sunday will be an introduction into The Upside Down Kingdom. In this study we'll: focus on exploring how the kingdom of God points to an upside down way of life - a kingdom opposite the prevailing "worldly" social order; examine the Gospels; put them in a contemporary context; and apply them to our lives today.
